Today I present the video of Ice Cream, by BATTLES. This theme belongs to the album Gloss Drop, one of the albums with a memorable and beautiful cover!
Despite feeling that the song lyric does not make much sense, BATTLES has an amazing video!

This video was directed by Luis Cerveró, one of the three directors of the film collective from Barcelona called CANADA. They love working with analog but hate the vintage concept, their work is real and has no filters. In my opinion this amazing video could only have been produced and directed by CANADA. If you do not know their job, I suggest you to take a look through their website – IT’S AWSOME!

Winter is here but this video takes us to summertime. Temperatures rise. Is a close fight – a fight between hot and cold, man and woman, group and individual, mountain and desert, up and down, soft and hard, dress and undress… Is a struggle with a fresh and beautiful aesthetic. The colors of image shots are very pretty too. I think that is intimate, exciting and ice cream works as an adornment, like a jewel – the relationship of the object with the body is a bold union.
My favorite part is at minute 1:35 when a person jumps from a rock and passes for the dimension of the projection to the real dimension. This game is very clever and the connection created is very interesting.
I definitely prefer when the band appears as if it were a sculpture in which we can walk around and see, or as a mask where we only distinguish the silhouette from the background, in spite of the beginning with all those streaks behind. I think it’s unnecessary. Is so much going on and we want to see more, and suddenly the band appears. Wasn’t necessary. We already heard them, so I think they should do something that would take the whole, picture and sound, to another level. The idea that the band needs to appear is just poor.
I think the beginning of the video is much more powerful than the middle or the end. The beginning makes everything worthwhile. What do you think?
