Summer is about to come, and here in Milan the weather is hot as hell.

So, it’s time to tune into a fresher mood with Wanna Play Daily, to chill from the blazing sun and picture ourselves on a white beach with some random cocktail in hand and a couple of chicks (or boys, if you prefer) waving palm leaves at us!

This is the videoclip for London Elektricity’s 2011 track Round The World In A Day.

It’s made from some people we already know: Plastic Horse!

You can recall what I’m talking about if you go and have a look to Crookers – Hummus (Feat. Hudson Mohawke & Carli) or Paul White – The Doldrums!

Plastic Horse is a very talented studio, and they love illustration and animation. They’re always able to create crazy, funny and unique stories through their work. And this video confirms what I’m saying.

I’m not going to talk about the storyline, because you’re able to understand it by watching the video. I will tell you how it’s done, instead. It’s nothing too complicated, as concerns techniques: it’s 2D Animation made through a program like Adobe After Effects and then Adobe Premiere to synchronize with the music.

What’s not simple at all is to reach such a quality.

First things first: Plastic Horse‘s people drew almost everything we see in the video, scanned it and made it more beautiful through Adobe Photoshop. Once they had everything, they imported everything in After Effects and started composing the animation. It’s a very nice and smooth job: animation is not photorealistic and fluid on purpose; transitions, effects, cuts, everything is studied and constructed to be organic and perfect. Minding every single particular and adding further effects, lights, shadows, in order to give the sensation of an animation made of actual paper, that comes to life under our eyes! (and always working with the track in the background, to be perfectly adherent to the rhythm of the song)

So, well done Plastic Horse! It’s such a funny video to watch!
