Hi, folks!

Here I am again, and I’m tired as hell. Someday I’m going to run away from the busy life and re-invent myself as some kind of solitary misanthropic fisher in a remote island up north, I’m telling you.

But before that, and before I call it a day I want to bring you something special, today. It’s a brand new, fresh video that came out in these days and is definitely tasty. Take it as a sweet piece of cake in the middle of the week that lets you kick in a new gear and gets you to the end of the week.

It’s the latest Muse video! It was released a couple of days ago. It’s for Madness, the second track from their new album The 2nd Law. Directed by the very talented Anthony Mandler (who had many experiences in the musical videoclip field), it’s a very beautiful piece of work.

The first impression I got from it made me think I was watching some kind of short film, because of its beauty.

Here on Wanna Play Daily we’re used to get excited by eccentric, innovative stuff. But this time also something more classical like this one deserves a mention here.

Not much to say: it’s just beautiful. Why, you might ask. Well, god is in the details, someone says. Sometimes a cliché is the best way to describe a situation, and that’s the case. The effort spent in this videoclip is huge. Every single detail is carefully studied.

Let’s get more specific. The shooting is top-notch: framings and camera movements are very beautiful and effective. Add to that a clever use of lights, ambient lightings, light colors and you already have quite a piece of work. But for Mandler it was not enough: montage and post-production make everything more dynamic. The cuts are brilliant and perfectly synchronized with the music. They are made very often, and working with the tilt effect of the cameras they’re able to create a very powerful sense of pathos.

Adobe After Effects and Premiere (respectively for color correction and montage) really did their job.

What can I say more? Just enjoy it.

I’ll just tell you what I appreciated the most: the story that the video tells is very powerful, and fits perfectly the sense of the lyrics of the song. And if you let the music do the rest, you’ll just get wrapped in a storm of passion. This is the magic of videoclips!

Ok, maybe it’s just because it’s late night while I’m writing.

I won’t bother you anymore, for today. I guess I should go to sleep.

Well done, Muse.

Well done, Mandler.

We’ll catch up soon, folks!
