This song is the second single from Depeche Mode‘s latest album “Delta Machine“.

Everybody knows the band, and we already seen them here on WPD with the song Fragile Tension, so I’ll focus directly on this amazing music video!

This music video was directed by the american Warren Fu, a visual effects art director at Industrial Light & Magic who has worked on all three movies of the prequel trilogy if Star Wars.

He hasn’t reached the 40yo yet, but he already directed a lot of stuff with names such as Mark Ronson and The Ting Tings.

This time Depeche Mode asked him to direct the music video for Soothe My Soul and the result is stunning. In a period where colors are so powerful and bright (especially in the music videos’ world), black and white choice is now taking place as the new fashion (you can easily see WPD home page: lately all the thumbnails are in black&white!).

The video is cropped in a square, original idea that let you focus better on all the details that create the atmosphere of the video.

A naked girl has been attacked by a snake and all the video works around a sexual idea alternating continuously pictures of the girl, of her skin, of the snake, of the band playing and the singer singing.

A perfect balance between all the elements with strong images that reminds a bit of Dexter‘s opening titles.

If you like this video, I suggest you to take a look to Warren Fu‘s vimeo here!
