Hello my ladies and gentlemen,

I’m here today, in this beautiful-yet-hot sunny day, to present you a brand new video that came out right in these days.

It’s the official video made by Michael Gold for Elkos’ track Bowels Full Of Bells.

It’s an ambient electronic song: something we have seen (and heard) a lot lately. I’m not very keen on this kind of music, but frankly, it’s not bad. Kind of nice to listen to.

What’s more important, anyway, is the video.

The music has no lyrics, so it’s perfect to shape a story in the background. Mr Gold decided to do something very interesting.

“Good and bad deeds together rarely go unpunished”, he writes in the description of the video. And this seems to be the leitmotiv of the whole work. So, what did he do?

He took four old movies (The Night of the Hunter, The Omen, The Bad Seed and La Religieuse), he played with scissors and glue (figuratively, of course!) and created a twisted story of grief.

How did he do that? It’s quite simple this time. Nowadays almost every old movie is available in digital version. He got these four movies (very interesting ones, if you are a vintage cinema fan) and blended them together with Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro. The work proceeded most probably this way: he decided what story he wanted to create, he cut all the sections he needed from those movies, he put them together in a project in the software, synchronized everything with the rhythm of the song, adjusted particulars and… Here it is!

A very nice work, interesting in particular for the choice of using old movies in a montage!

And also for the concept of merging together music and cinema worlds, two of the most beautiful contemporary arts.

So, what else to do? Enjoy it while you drink a good liquor, in the night, and feel like a gentleman!
