By now, after I wrote two articles about them, The Shins has been in my ears during all my morning’s journeys. And I regret nothing.
Quite a month ago we posted The Shins’s Simple Song and now it’s time for the b-side of that: September, released on a vinyl on Valentine’s Day, it comes with a wordy visual video, inspired by Jacob Escobedo‘s artwork for the album.

Of course when a video shows the lyrics we’re sure the words are going to be good and deep, and this time is not an exception, the song was actually meant to be a serenade for James Mercer’s wife.
The lyrics travel in and out the recording machines and throughout the gramophone, and here and there you can spot Escobedo’s little silhouettes of tiny monsters and characters.
The video focuses on the details and the framing creates a perfect stage for the words to float.
The greenish atmosphere gave to all a kind of melancholic look that suits well with the movement of the melody.
We can surely expect great songs by The Shins, but also great videos too.

And if you’re interested to see other videos involving motion tracking don’t miss Release the freq and Let Love Rule.
