Hey there, here we are. I know this is not kind a fresh videoclip, but we’re talking about a very meaningful piece of modern art. Coming from the earliest 80′s, this video introduced the people to “Remain in Light”, the fourth studio album by Talking Heads.

The video is all about David Byrne, moving like a puppet on different moving backgrounds. Sometime they’re synchronized, sometimes they are not. The lyrics of the song are quite clear, so we can say that the message from the band is directly flowing to the people, but, if we pay attention, probably we could figure out some connections between words and background images.

Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

Probably life isn’t really what it seems to be, and that’s probably why David Byrne is acting is such a strange way, like a not normal guy:  the choreographer, Toni Basil suggested him to move like that and she showed him footage of epilepsy sufferers. That’s kind of a craziness…

Almost thirty years ago, MTV started with music videos, and this was one of the most broadcasted ones, it is still an icon for now days moviemaker!

“The Talking Heads’ “Once in a Lifetime” video is so odd, so ’80s, so David Byrne, you can’t look away.”
