Sóley (the singer) is from Iceland, Inga Birgisdottir (the director), is from Iceland too and where do you think the video was shot? Iceland of course!
So… Iceland!

Sóley is a member of the indie-collective Seabear. She also studied composition and is a passionate piano player and singer. In 2010 she released her debut EP Theater Island which is followed by her first full-length We Sink – a pop record, that sounds like a dream: sweet and weird at the same time.

But let’s talk about this videoclip.
We already seen this visual style in another video: the director of this videoclip is Jonsi’s sister and she already directed a music video for Seabear, but also Varúð and Ekki Múkk for Sigur Ros.
We have the same kind of postproduction of these two videos, I think it could be her remarkable sign: based on high contrasts, sepia tones, dark colors and slow movements.
There’s no camera in this videoclip, I mean: the camera is totally stable, it’s like a window thanks to which we are able to watch out.

Inga used so many layers putting all the shots together: each image is created by at least 2 images (one is fixed and another one presents moving stuff inside, like trees or clouds moved by the wind). All these layers are overlapping each other: obviously there’s a lot of multiply in this postproduction!
There are other two important elements in this videoclip.
The first one is the layer that contains the hands. Those two hands are used as a window in the window: as the hands open, we can see a house, the real protagonist in this simple music video.
The second element is the singer face while singing the song (this is the first music video in which Inga puts the singer’s face). Also this layer is in opacity over the others.

Maybe this video is a little bit dark for this song: this is a sort of visual style that fits well for Sigur Ros, but imho not so much for Sòley‘s music and voice.
