Advise: This is not the nth review about Fjögur Píanó music video. I don’t want to give answers to those questions that this video can put in you: I truly believe that when an artist put soul in his work and this soul become visible, nobody could explain enough. We could investigate the meaning of each part of the video, but I don’t think that this could give a response.

So here we are trying to explore what’s behind a video like this, which were the thoughts of the director and how she developed it. She, the director is Alma Har’el, who was chosen by Sigur Rós to bring part to The Valtari Mystery Film Experiment (we already talked about this project with the review of Varud and Eg anda).

Many reviews on the web wrote that this videoclip is surreal, visionary and a real trip, but let’s begin reading what the director said about it:
A short story. A man and a woman locked in a never ending cycle of addiction and desire. Slowly losing their ability to separate themselves from each other, they try to hold on to dead fleeting moments as they mark the days passing them by“.
The two actors are the famous Shia Labeouf and the beautiful dancer Denna Thomsen. In a scene we can see them entirely bared (that’s why this video is in our special 50 Shades of Wanna week): I think that this is one of those rare cases that demonstrate that nudity is not vulgar, but a singular state of beauty.

The director decided to collaborate with The Mill for the VFX and that close collaboration, plus the work of Shawn Kim (director of photography), turned an overwhelming 80 shots into “a magic sequence of wind, water and electricity“: I suggest you to watch the making of uploaded by Alma Har’el herself.
Alma didn’t want the effects to overpower the performers, but rather enhance the mood of the film,” share The Mill 2D Lead Artists Sarah Eim & Tara Demarco. “It was refreshing to work on such a beautiful art project“.

By watching to this video we are taken to an unforgettable journey scored by haunting Sigur Rós melodies.
