For today we suggest you something from Sia!

And again something from the kangaroos’ land: Sia Furler (born in 1975) is an Australian singer and songwriter who put out already five albums.
We already saw her name here on WPD when we reviewed her videoclips for the songs Breathe MeР’В and She WolfР’В (this last one feat. David Guetta).

“Clap your hands”Р’В it’s a 2010 song from her fifth studio album We Are Born, written in collaboration with Samuel Dixon. Together, they were nominated for “Song of the Year” at the 2011 APRA Music Awards for songwriting.

But what about the music video?
You have to know that it won the “Best Video” at the 2010 ARIA Awards (Australian Recording Industry Association Music Award), only good stuff here on Wanna!
It was directed by Kris Moyes, an Australian director and producer, best known for his innovative music videos (we already reviewed two of them: Way Back HomeР’В by Bag Raiders and Gun-shyР’В by Grizzly Bear).
This was a challenging videoclip: Moyes came up with the idea on the plane from Sidney to NY and said “under less than amazing circumstances (the clip was shot in SiaРІР‚в„ўs New York apartment), something amazing can be made“.
He also had only three days in NY to find an art director and all the rest of the crew.
He brought the scenery to life by using quirky, colourful puppetry techniques showing a playful story of Sia as an array of different puppet characters including a frilled-neck lizard, a frog and the Statue of Liberty.
He didn’t care too much about being perfect or precise: in a lot of frames we can clearly see the arms of Sia while she animates the puppet in front of her face, but this is something that well match Sia’s style. In facts, if you take a look to her website, everything is a little bit messy, with colorful palette (pure colors as red 100,0,0, green 0,100,0 and blue 0,0,100), mouse-drawn typography and COMIC SANS!

After the shootings Moyers also added some details of 2D animation in some scenes, to have something in the background or in the foreground (black silhouettes) to give more depth to an otherwise flatten video.
