Oh, well, you can only get the new video from director Maxime Bruneel for the new pop-y disco single of Punks Jump Up with the vocals of Dave 1 from Chromeo, where you can see all the love of the londoner DJ duo (born in 2002) for fashion & style as for dance music.
 
A roadtrip where the car shutters the foggy night in a vivid colors, phosphorescent reflections, neon lights of city’s club. There’s no place where to stop in , where you can go, oh, there’s no place where you want to go. It’s the night when you burn the time shaking your head until all the things around you, lost their reality and the fog mix up with words of song.
…and you ask why all this stylish party deals with Lynch and Gillian’s dreams…
…until a bear crash into your car…well, a bear that is not strictly a bear, but also a bulldog and if you look hard at it, it’s also an octopus! And you end to be led by this clownish beast on you car without a destination.
And, the magic tragedy is that all this seem normal.
 
As you can read in Chez Eddy’s blog, the project started studying car scenes in movie like ‘Drive’ by Nicholas Winding Refn, ‘Death Proof’ by Q. Tarantino, ‘True Romance’ by Tony Scott, ‘Lost Highway’ by David Lynch, and using them like sample test to find the perfect way to syncronized music e images, Bruneel succeeds in creating a coloured stylized, but rich world where flashy 2D animation (the human characters), disparate designed typos (the song’s lyrics), a 80’s car and surreal beast modeled in 3D and animated on Maya, then worked in After Effects, live together in the night.
 
A night when you are so high that you never ask yourself ‘Where fucking is Jimmy? He was driving here!”. I mean, who cares about Jimmy when you have a bear (/bulldog/octopus) that take the wheel.
