Ólafur Arnalds is a young and promising artist.

He is a multi-instrumentalist and also a producer. His career began as a drummer of the bands Fighting Shit and Celestine, and over the years he has collaborated with other great artists such as Sigur Rós (in 2008 he toured with the band).
Ólafur, as Jónsi (Sigur Rós leader), was born in Iceland and his music has the characteristics of the melodies of the Northern bands (in these months we talked about Carpark North, Röyksopp, Sin Fang, XXYYXX etc. all these bands come from northern Europe).
Ólafur studied piano when he was very young and than he decided to switch to drums instead. He studied drums for two years, but after this period he switched over again, this time classical music and composition.

I am not surprised that his music is a meltin’pot of genres. His melody “Ljósið” (light) is a phoenix of colours, and in the clip we can see an evanescent 3Dsnake moving to the beats. It’s like the spectrum of the rainbow is crumbling in front of us. Everything turns to dust, a colorful sand created by Esteban Diácono, the director of the video, a motion graphics designer based in Buenos Aires and working in design /motion graphics /post production industry for over 12 years.

Be captivated by the cold heart of the North.
