Megaforce still have a myspace account.
So it doesn’t surprise that the directing team likes vintage also in their videos: after The pursuit of happiness and The Greeks today we talk about A thing for me.
The concept for this Metronomy‘s song is brilliant: a real life karaoke, with a bouncing ball which hit objects and people and marks the words for you to sing in time.
The french duo said: “We started with that karaoke idea, and as we had a very low budget, we didn’t know if we would be able to find a good place to shoot. So we first wrote graphical ideas that could work on green screen in case of a missed location emergency. We just designated who had to react to which word, and then we shot singing the song acapella. The ball is always CG. We used a real ball only for light references. Objects moved thanks to nylon strings (that you can actually see on the “Uno” box).”
Like a window in the space a projector shows some scenes of characters with their speech balloons, like a picture story from some B magazine.
But the real deal in this video is the misspellings, which are absolutely hilarious, like “Maya art” which substitutes “My heart” or “goth” and “goat” replacing “got”.
Before you could even realize it, you’ve already learn the lyrics.
Megaforce knows how to entertain, for sure.

Yeah it’s really awsome! ;)
