I’ll be onest with you, I never heard about Lorn until yesterday, when I was told to write a review for this video. The first time I heard this track I was astonished, the sense of melancholy it communicates is uncommon. I started a little research about this artist and found out that he signed in 2010 with Flying Lotus‘s label Brainfeeder Records and already published a full-lenght album “Nothing Else” that is seriously a masterpiece, listen to believe. This video anticipates the release of is second LP, this time under Ninja Tunes.
CRCR is a French animator whose works, just like Lorn’s, picture the sensation of emptiness and anxiety, this video or the spot he realized for Amnesty International can give you an idea of what I’m talking about. He doesn’t usually realise music videos but I think the affinity between his and Lorn’s philosophy made him fall in love with this project.
The clip is a close up of a face that seems dead, seems to be looking at nothing, probably it’s the representations of the ghost in the title. Face’s mutations are perfectly animated and timed, fluid and pleasant. The black background and the VHS distortions (I already talked about this topic in another review) complete the dark and dense atmosphere you can breathe watching this video.
