Hello folks, July is here. And you? Are you still here?

Ready for the holidays, right? Well’ we’ll keep you company until you’ll go! (a nicer way to say: our staff will not go on vacation soon. So sad.)

If this article suddenly stops, don’t worry: it’s just because I melted down completely in front of my laptop which produces more heat than an oven, these days.

Anyway, apart from sudden heat strokes, I’m here today to present you the videoclip for Posse, the new song by Kimbra.

This girl is a young one: she’s almost 22 (like me, oh my god) and is coming out to fame lately. You probably have already seen her, but you’re not aware of it. I’ll help you: take a look at this and tell me if you can recognise her! I guess you already heard this song: it’s being played on every single radio all day long (hooray…).

All right, let’s talk about the video now:

The concept is not that new. It’s a lyrics video, something we already saw many times (i.e. this or this).

I’ll tell you something in advance, so you will not get mad after: I’m not a big fan of today’s pop music and today’s popstars. And I’m neither a fan of that hipster style everything got contaminated by.

That said, this video follows the stream of today’s glam trend. There is kaleidoscopic stuff, Sans Serif Light fonts, strong colours and so on. Not that appealing to me, but it’s not ugly. It’s quite well made: animation is nicely made (in After Effects), and works in general. Words are written not that beautifully, but they aren’t bad either (the font is quite anonymous and the strokes around the glyphs are like scratching nails against a blackboard, to me. But it can work, after all).

What else to say? It’s a lyrics video, so animation is coordinated with the sound through Premiere accurately. The pieces of illustration (the Yin Yangs) are built in a 3D modeling software like Maya and ported in After Effects posthumously. The film-like flickering effect that goes on through the whole video is a simple effect of After Effects.

That’s what I had to tell about the video. Now let me flee from this computer or I’ll get totally roasted!

See you around, folks! On Wanna Play Daily, of course!
