John R. “Johnny” Cash was an American singer-songwriter, actor and author, who has been called one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century; in spite of that, he is mostly remembered only for being a great country music icon. He died in september 2003, but his magic is still alive. There ain’t no grave can hold his music down.

We already met Chris Milk, an innovator in the field of music videos. Maybe you can remember the astonishing and interactive experience while playing Arcade Fire’s The Wilderness Downtown or the amazing journey in Danielle Luppi and Danger Mouse’s ROME… but this time Chris, with “The Johnny Cash Project”, chose to bring the experience to a higher level: the viewers are no more just passive users, but there is a brilliant example of cooperation between perfect strangers. Everyone can draw with the help of a platform a frame of the video, wich is constatly changing and evolving. (Here you can find some more examples of the video, like a director’s cut, the project and the platform, if you feel like a real artist). If you want to figure out more, you can check this video on Chris’ youtube channel.

Since september 2010, 250.000 people from 173 different country took part to the realization of the project. What are you wainting for? Leave your trace as a tribute to the great Jhonny.
