Franz Ferdinand – Can’t Stop Feeling

“Not being a master of computer programs, it was a case of learning on the job when the edit began. Due to the way the technique worked, with one thing leading onto the next, we tried to plan the edit before the shoot. This made editing a lot easier and it all seemed to fit together pretty well.”
Reading the words of Russell Weekes is a bit strange: what would he made if he was a master from the beginning? For us Can’t stop feeling is pretty much a pearl in a tide of vapid edited videos.
Thank god there’s someone who can think outside of the borders, and in this occasion we talk about the video frame borders.
The director plays with the principles of video editing creating an original version of split screen, dividing the vision in multiple scenes, but the interesting part is that the scenes are related with each others, the musicians interact and play through the frames. It’s obvious that the storyboarding phase was determinating, every directional movement is planned and composes a kind of choreography which is fun to watch.
