At first I was guessing what should I be writing about this video, fast cuts and a half naked couple vandalizing a wall with markers, inside a scenario that recalls “Saw”; then everything just go mental. And that makes me happy.

Tim Pope is not just the first guy Fatboy Slim stumbled upon, as he brags a long list of famous artists on his Music Video Portfolio, like The Cure, David Bowie and The Queen; and when Fatboy Slim came and said that they wanted him to direct the video for Slash Dot Dash, he was as happy as he could.

“This is the most insane thing that I’ve turned in a long time” and “Before I reached the end of the track I knew what the idea was” and there it goes: two people writing on the walls, and then starting to have gravity issues mixed with a role game, which actually increase the strain in a crescendo of beat, cuts and loss of clothes, and in a awkwardly erotic way.

Let’s reach the main part of the video: how that gravity-thing has been made?
Anyone?

I had no idea, until I found an old interview of Tim where he explained the trick: basically they built 3 different room: a normal one, an upside-down one, and another one laid down on one side, after that the editing and the coreography (that has an extremely important part in video like this) and the poor guys that had to cesealessly update the scribbles on every room, made the thing.

2 minutes and 40 seconds of video that is surely enjoyable and nuts. Nice.
