Oh Oh Oh! Hey there, folks!

Here we are, it’s Christmas Eve! Aren’t you excited!?

Don’t you feel the music in the air? Santa is coming tonight!

I’m as happy as a clam, and as hyperactive as a kid who ate a gazillion candies or drunk thirty cups of coffee!

Anyways, it’s a very special day, and we ought to celebrate. Here on WPD we like to make everything big!

I’m very glad to be writing the post of Christmas Eve. It’s an honour because it’s my favourite day of the year. No joke!

Today imagine me dressed as the big fat guy who rides a sleigh giving you a big fat present.

Because this video is definitely worth a play. It’s Blue Christmas, a classic xmas song, sung by Elvis Aaron “The King” Presley. But it has something more in it. You must be thinking: «why the hell is an old video on Wanna?». Well, if you take a closer look, you’ll find something odd: Martina McBride, born 1966, is in it!

The voice of Elvis is one of the greatest of all times, and it suits so perfectly a christmas song. Warm, low, manly voice. You could already see the fireplace and the christmas tree in you mind. While Martina McBride is a talented american country singer, who had the idea of singing with the King in a compilation album made with his songs. The song was recorded in studio, then she and her entourage decided to produce a video, too.

Here comes George Flanigan. He was chosen as the director, and made it happen.

First: they noticed that in the footage of a live video of Elvis singing Blue Christmas there was some spare space that could be used. So, they went on a set and prepared everything for the green screen session.

By watching the video many times they tracked every camera movement in it and every framing. Then, they prepared the set and the cameras in order to shoot footage of McBride that fit into the original video. In the session she had on the green screen a pole, which represented Elvis, for her to watch.

Once everything was shot, the processed the footage on the softwares. First, they corrected everything and added some post production with After Effects, in order to achieve the same visual style of the old video. Then they did the montage part with Premiere or something, adding the parts with McBride in Elvis’ video!

That’s pretty much it, a very clever idea. And well done, too!

So awesome to see mr Presley, especially these days!
