Hey here, guys!

I’m writing this last post before I leave, in a couple of hours, for San Francisco and Las Vegas, so I’m super excited right now. And, on top of that, I’m going to bring you a videoclip that is very meaningful to me.

It’s the videoclip, released just a week ago or so, made by H-57 for Elio E Le Storie Tese’s track Dannati Forever, featured in the latest Sanremo Festival (a very important musical kermesse, here in Italy).

I have to tell you: Elio E Le Storie Tese are one of the very few bands that I truly and continuously love. They’re extremely talented musicians, extremely funny people and come right from where I was born and raised (Milan), too. I follow them since when I was like 15 and they’re in my heart for real.

I’m aware that if you’re reading this from outside Italy (or even outside Milan, actually) you probably won’t understand why I consider them pure genius, but it’s ok. I just wanted to tell you something about me and them.

Anyway, after getting sentimental, I have to tell you about this video. I found it outrageously funny. It’s an incredible stream of consciousness-madness. I think that the people of H-57 understood for real what the Elii are. And it’s so damn funny to watch this enormous quantity of random stuff storming on the screen while this clever and beautiful song is playing.

As regards technique, it’s entirely made with Adobe After Effects. The process started by identifying the right images to use, cut them and filter them through Photoshop, then importing them in AE and animating them through simple animation processes (simple movements, no need for being realistic at all).

And this is the very interesting point: this animation is purposedly lo-fi. Starting from the images and illustrations in themselves.

It’s a style choice that I appreciate a lot, because it gives a very unique taste to the video.

I will now get ready to go. You take care, and have fun with my dearest Elio E Le Storie Tese. And let me end with: FORZA PANINO! (you probably won’t get it, even though I hope so. But I had to say it!)

See ya, guys!
