• After almost ten years of activity Crookers still surprise us with new insane stuff. Someone could think they’re two idiots but personally i think they’re two geniuses. Dr Gonzo is full of songs in which a cartoonish and catchy sound is put in foreground to create a weird composition you can’t stop to listen to. In that laughing track they take this sick, creepy laughter, puts some bassy drums on it and that’s it, the track is done. Imagine how it would sound on a big club sound system!

I can’t imagine how happy have been Jerome Potter and Johnny Woods to work with such material. If you watch Johnny Wood’s reel (http://www.johnnywoods.com/?page=reel) you’ll find out he’s a fanatic of flashy colours, VHS distortions, video synthesizers and feedbacks, and these are the technicques he use with Jerome Potter to realize this video. Recorded film is roughly mixed with digitally synthesized material and post produced with analog machines creating disturbing effects, unnatural colours and fluid patterns. This choice is not dictated from a vintage sensibility as Johnny says on his website: “I employ these techniques for their physical characteristics, their unique workflows, and because I appreciate technology that pushes back at its user.” This is interesting point of view, in my opinion, considering that we are in middle of the Digital Age, a different approach that should be taken in consideration from every video maker.
