It happens to come across in a song that makes grandmothers shake their heads, I did, but if we talk about the stone walls of the Fontevraud abbey I’ve never thought a song could. This building had become a cultural center in 1975 and now a number of artists are called to collaborate with the organization. Directed by Francis Cutter, this video-clip was produced by “On And On Records” to promote the latest C2C song FUYA. In 2011, with Vincent Nguyen, he realized a different video in the same location and with similar techniques: the video is titled Welcome to Fontevraud and was created for the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs.

Even though we come across in already seen techniques this is an interesting example of the following special effects.
The former is regarding the rhythmic pop-up of the musicians, achieved with green-screen filmed sequences and then assembled with After Effects and Photoshop, using vanishing points and camera mapping.

The second effect concerns the environment filming: actually the camera movements are just in the beginning and in the ending of the video and in the middle none of these. If it hadn’t involved the graphic effects, the abbey walls would appear static instead of moving and shaking in all directions following the beat of the song. Everything is obtained without the use of 3D because in some wall movements the shadows hold steady.
Another brilliant example of how it could be realized a little masterpiece starting from a simple, but original, idea.
