West Coast rapper Blu with Flying Lotus going in on production created this song, just Doin’ Nothin’, but not really. A lot is going on in this video directed by David M. Helman.

The videoclip has been nominated to the UKMVA for Best International Urban Video in 2012, and it is indeed urban.
It could have been the usual rap/hip-hop video with the artist and an hot girls, but instead it’s more cleaver and interesting than that. RUFFMERCY is the main animator responsible for the additional stuff going on in the frame (with the help of Tsvetelina Tomova, Maxime Bruneel and Ewan Farr), he and his colleagues have drawn on almost each frame, rotoscoping the artist singing or writing and drawing lyrics and abstract doodles, with the aim of keeping visual interesting and in continuous movement.
The first part of the video is dedicated to New York (York is his six solo studio album) and the director used filters, textures and a glitchy feel to keep the city moving.

A nice fresh style that even non-hip-hop lovers like me can enjoy.
