Hi guys,

Today I’m going to be as dry as the desert: I hated this video with all my spirit.

Mainly because of the deadly boring music and because of this band. I didn’t know them, and I don’t have to wonder why. It’s been a major pain to watch this video till the end. This crappy and fake wannabe rockstars just set fire to my guts. And they’re responsible of the continuous decline of the poor rock and roll, too.

That said (I swear that after the first time, I watched the video again only without sound, trying not to bang my head against the desk), the video is quite well done.

It came out like a week ago or so, and was directed for All Time Low by Raul Gonzo. Michael Pescasio is the director of photography and Carli Moloney is the production designer.

It’s an interesting mixture of a couple of nice and beautiful techniques. If I have to be entirely honest, maybe there’s too much stuff in it and it’s difficult for the viewer to focus on something, but I’m not the director, so nevermind.

In the first part you can see a technique we saw in the first days of Wanna while reviewing Woman by Wolfmother (that’s TRUE rock and roll, go and have a listen right now): they filmed some footage, broke down the frames and printed them one after another, then photographed the sheets and imported them in an animation. The result is a super cool effect of a stop-motion-like video that has the wrinkles of the paper!

The other big-yet-simple effect is obtained with some green screen shots. You take the people to a set, put a big RGB pure green background behind them and shoot whatever you need. That gives you the possibility to cut human figures only out of the video in After Effects, and then you can basically put them anywhere you want. In this case they juxtaposed some footage of paper compositions in the background and it creates a very cool and childish world that I really appreciated.

This is what they did through the entire videoclip.

Basically, everything in this video is as fake as that bunch of retards that appear in it!

Have a nice day, guys!
