Here is another amazing Coldplay’s video. It was directed by Mat Whitecross and shot between 14 and 15 June 2011 at Millennium Mills, east London (Instead of it begins with a shot of the Downtown Los Angeles skyline). The video mainly uses a stop motion technique; it show the band playing across various background sprayed with colourful graffiti painted by the band’s artist Paris and Gwen Liby, Mat Moran, Russell Maurice, Dan Sparkes. It’s probably impossible to measure how many litre of paint -glow-in-the-dark, high-gloss, Krylon, etc.- were used in the making of this video, but it was probably a lot!! The beginning is realized using a timelapse effect, the rest of the video is a great mash up of filming and stop motion.
